Abstract

This study aims to analyze students' perceptions of the importance of business communication and negotiation competencies as preparation for entering the workplace. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed at Universitas Bina Mandiri Gorontalo. Informants were purposively selected from students who had completed the Business Communication and Negotiation course. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, observation, and documentation and analyzed through data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was ensured through source and technique triangulation. The findings show that students perceive communication and negotiation as essential competencies for workplace readiness and building professional relationships. Students also expect more practical learning through simulations, case studies, and activities reflecting professional situations. In addition, communication and negotiation competencies need to be supported by relevant technical competencies. The study concludes that workplace readiness requires the integration of communication and negotiation competencies, technical competencies, and practical learning experiences
