Abstract

This research aims to analyze the impact of monopoly on consumers and markets. Monopoly is a form of market where one company or entity controls all production or sales of a product or service. In this study, we explore the economic and social consequences of monopoly situations, focusing on their effects on consumers and market dynamics. This research uses a combined approach of economic analysis and case studies to reveal the effects of monopoly. We investigate how monopoly can affect prices, product quality, and innovation. In addition, we also consider the impact of monopolies on consumer choice, product accessibility, and market efficiency. The research results show that monopoly tends to result in higher prices and lower product quality compared to competitive situations. However, this impact is not always detrimental for all consumers, because some consumer groups can experience certain benefits. We also identify various regulatory strat-egies that can be used to reduce the negative impact of monopolies, maintaining a balance between consumer interests and economic efficiency. This research pro-vides important insights into the complexity of monopoly in consumer and market contexts. This can be a reference for policy makers, market players and academ-ics to understand the implications of monopoly and take appropriate actions to minimize its negative impacts.
