Problematika Pembelajaran Bahasa Arab (Studi Kasus Universitas Muhammadiyah Gorontalo)

Abstract

This research seeks to reveal the problems of Arabic language learning in Higher Education (Case Study of University of Muhammadiyah Gorontalo). By using qualitative research and phenomenological approaches, this research is expected to obtain accurate information on  the problems of Arabic language learning. The study programs that will be the object of research are the Nursing Study Program, PGSD Study Program and Law Study Program. The method of obtaining data is carried out in three ways. First, conduct in-depth interviews with students. Second, make observations on language activities  that have always been  or have been followed, especially activities outside the campus. Third, conduct a document review of readings that may also form learning problems. The  results of this study revealed that the problem of learning Arabic in universities, especially at the University of Muhammadiyah Gorontalo, lies in the lack of initial understanding related to reading and writing the Quran, the results obtained show that the lack of understanding of Arabic is because students are still at the initial level of reading the Quran. The solution offered based on the results of this study is that students are given exercises and short courses related to initial understanding related to reading and writing the Quran which is carried out continuously. The hope is that after attending this course and practice, students' understanding of Arabic learning can increase.
